Scholarships and Special Events

Education is important to the success of WC&C member companies and we encourage young people to continue theirs. It’s just a year since the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters opened a new, state-of-the-art apprentice training center in Edison, New Jersey. In a five-year program, young men and women can learn basics to advancing to become a journeyman carpenter.

Each year at this time WC&C opens our scholarship search to worthy young men and women. These awards are for $3,000 and they are not limited to tuition at apprenticeship centers. The money is for awardees to use at any accredited institution. Ten winners are selected by an outside organization which we retain for this purpose.

Over the coming weeks our Association will be offering three valuable opportunities. The WC&C Annual Dinner Dance at Terrace on the Park in Flushing will be held on March 30th. Then onApril 3rd through 7th our WC&C Convention will be held in Nassau, Bahamas. Capping the weeks of peer group activity, on April 22 through 26, AWCI’s Convention & INTEX Expo will be at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center and Marriott Residence Inn in National Harbor, Maryland. These are three excellent opportunities to unwind, learn and communicate about work, technology, and profit. Make sure you register early for each of these events. I’m looking forward to seeing you.
